Elbit Systems of Australia Managing Director, Major General (ret’d) Paul McLachlan AO CSC to stand down

Elbit Systems of Australia (ELSA) announces its board of directors has accepted Managing Director, Major General (ret’d) Paul McLachlan AO CSC request to transition from his role on 23 December 2022, after leading the company for the past three years.

ELSA recently announced a reorganisation of the Australian business after the successful completion of the transformation that has strengthened its governance, engineering, IT infrastructure and security.

“I am very proud of overseeing the completion of the transformation, which we have undertaken in a remarkably short timeframe, therefore, it is an appropriate time for me to hand over the management of the company to a new leader,” Mr McLachlan said.

ELSA is currently in the market to appoint a new leader and in the meantime Chair Dr Karen Stanton will assume the position of Executive Chair to cover the period between the departure of Mr McLachlan and the appointment of his replacement.

Dr Stanton said the recruitment process was well underway and a strong and experienced executive leadership team would ensure a smooth handover.

“I wish to thank Paul for his contribution to Elbit Systems of Australia as a partner and as a leader who has achieved remarkable outcomes in difficult circumstances,” Dr Stanton said.

“The transformation and reorganisation of the business enables us to access a wider cross-section of Elbit’s product portfolio, placing ELSA in a better position to meet the challenges and opportunities of future programs within the Australian defence industry sector.”
